What is this scheme?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) is an energy efficiency scheme designed to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. The scheme supports low-income households and creates more energy efficient homes by providing funding for various measures including insulation, heating systems, and renewable energy upgrades.

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) requires energy suppliers to deliver power usage efficiency and heating measures to those on the lowest incomes and on means-tested benefits to offset emissions created by energy company emissions.

Am I eligible?

There are three routes that make you eligible for ECO4:

  • Receive a qualifying benefit.
  • Or have a gross annual household income under £31,000.
  • Or have a a health condition including limited mobility, cardiovascular, immunosuppressed or respiratory conditions.

Yes! The program is open to privately rented properties. You simply need to meet the qualifying benefit criteria, ensure your home has an EPC rating of D or E, and obtain permission from your landlord.
